getting rid of items pinned to start menu?

Ok, so I just got a new XP machine for the family computer. I copied some of my files from olddata to program files and pinned the .exe files to the start menu. I uninstalled one of the program, but can't figure out how to get rid of the start menu icon. Help!!!

just hit the aps key and unpin from there. my aps key is next to my right hand control key.

Yep. that'll do it. locate item, hit applications key, or, shift f10, and choose delete, or D.
